Foam Rollers...
So for years I have been told to use a foam roller, and for years I've been told how great they are. However, no one explained why and how they worked. So I bought one gave it a try, but it did nothing for me, so put it in the corner of my room and there it sat for a year. Oh my son would take it out and use it for his legos to stand on, but that was about it. Recently, I started working out at Rocky's gym in Santa Cruz, CA. On the first day he had us start by using the foam roller, and to my surprised he explained why and how it worked. I had searched several times on the internet but never found the information I was looking for. I don't know the exacts verbiage he used but this is what I got out of it " Sometimes knots form on the connective tissue surrounding your muscle for multiple reasons (lack of flexibility, inactivity, overuse). Using a foam roller to apply pressure to a knot will help increase your flexibility and range of motion and in turn, prevent injury.' I had tenderness on the inside of my knee for months. Every time I bent my knee it hurt, but I could still run. The day I went into rocky's gym and used the foam roller, I could feel the difference the next day, so I started using it after each workout and wow my knee feel normal again, along with my hamstrings... I am feeling great and happy that I now understand how the foam roller helps....
